A new concept in whisky—Outland Whisky—born and aged in Scotland and finished in Jerez, Spain. Traditionally, the majority of malt whiskies are finished in sherry casks which are shipped to Scotland from Jerez. Nomad reverses this tradition by sending the aged whisky to Jerez to sit in sherry casks in the unique environment of the bodega.
Nomad begins as a premium blended whisky produced from a unique selection of over 30 different malt and grain whiskies from Speyside, in the Highlands of Scotland. Each of these malt and grain whiskies are of 5 to 8 years old, and 40% of the blend is made up of malt whisky. The resulting blend is left to mature in Scotland in Oloroso Sherry casks for 3 years.
Following this it is transferred to Jerez where it finishes for a minimum of 12 months in old Pedro Ximenez casks in the San Fernando cellar of González Byass maturing in the unique micro-climate of Jerez. Here it gains exposure to the temperature, humidity and winds in the winery in Jerez with the native yeasts, floating in the air, in the magic and unique atmosphere of Jerez cellars.
