The iconic Tio Pepe was the beginning of Gonzalez Byass. At the young age of 23, Manuel Maria Gonzalez dedicated himself to the production of sherry and spirits. In 1844, the first barrels of Tio Pepe were exported to London. The name Tio Pepe (Uncle Joe) was an homage to his uncle Jose Angel.
Tio Pepe became Spain’s first registered trade mark. By the mid-1800’s, the company’s exports accounted for about 2% of all Spanish exports. Tio Pepe is now sold in over 100 countries around the world.
Made from 100% Palomino grapes, in the “Flor” method, Tio Pepe is ubiquitous, versatile and the ideal starting point on your journey through sherry.
